What will happen? (Posted: Friday, December 9 2011)"What will happen?" is the theme for the month! We hypothesize, we do our experiment, we note our results, and we work out what we learned.

Thanksgiving Feast (Posted: Saturday, November 26 2011)The kindergarten children had a Thanksgiving Feast on Monday. Some of them were Pilgrims and some were Native Americans. Almost all the food was made by the children themselves, including freshly popped popcorn, pumpkin pies, cornbread muffins, and friendship fruit salad. They made all the table centerpieces and woven place mats, and had dyed their napkins using vegetable dyes and constructed napkin rings to hold them.
Eating standing up, just as children did in those days, and eating with shells, made it feel very authentic. It was a fabulous celebration, finished off with our own chocolate turkeys. Happy Thanksgiving.

Flag Raising (Posted: Monday, October 24 2011)Mrs. Donna raising our flag again for the new school year. We are very proud of this flag. Mrs. Donna's son-in-law flew it on his helicopter over Afghanistan and sent it to us afterwards. Very special. And the children loved marching around it singing " You're a Grand Old Flag". |

Learning About the Big Bang (Posted: Monday, October 24 2011)The kindergarten children went into our "universe room" today and talked about the Big Bang Theory of the beginning of the universe. Who would have thought that the "singularity" exploding would be silent?! And that glitter and a flashlight could be so exciting in the dark! Here is one of our students creating his own version of that Big Bang. |
