Thanksgiving Feast

The kindergarten children had a Thanksgiving Feast on Monday. Some of them were Pilgrims and some were Native Americans. Almost all the food was made by the children themselves, including freshly popped popcorn, pumpkin pies, cornbread muffins, and friendship fruit salad. They made all the table centerpieces and woven place mats, and had dyed their napkins using vegetable dyes and constructed napkin rings to hold them.
Eating standing up, just as children did in those days, and eating with shells, made it feel very authentic. It was a fabulous celebration, finished off with our own chocolate turkeys. Happy Thanksgiving.
